Walpole Friends is a voluntary group that has come together in response to Ealing Council’s plans to invest in Pitzhanger Manor and Walpole Park, to provide a local stakeholder voice and “grass roots” input. There has always been local involvement, through local residents’ associations – particularly Walpole Residents’ Association, WRA – however, it is clear that the new investment programme raises the game and the new friends group provides an increased focus.
Walpole Friends will focus its initial efforts on Pitzhanger Manor and Walpole Park, with the intention of incorporating Lammas Park if sufficient momentum and stakeholder interest is generated. The Friends understand that the two parks have separate but related histories and roles, in particular in relation to the Manor, and therefore there is a logic in forming one umbrella organisation if possible.
